Amanda’s Gastric Sleeve August 2021 through a Pandemic.

Following years of battling with my weight and yo yo dieting I knew something had to change. A friend had used Laura at Ivy health and had amazing results with the gastric sleeve surgery and strongly recommended her, so I bit the bullet and messaged Laura who rang me back within 10 minutes. Instantly Laura put me at ease as talking about my weight isn’t my favorite subject , she explained everything to me in detail. I met with Laura a couple of times as well for a coffee and question time from me as she lived near to me, I’ve probably drove her mad with my questions. Never has anything been a problem whenever I’ve contacted her she’s always straight back to me. My first initial op date was cancelled because of Covid which no one could help but Laura kept me well informed and a new date as soon as it was possible.

I am now 9 days post op and all I can say is the experience has been amazing. The clinic ( Surgal Clinic) was very nice and welcoming, Veronika the manager is so kind and helpful with perfect English , it is immaculately clean and my room was really big with a tv on the wall, a mini fridge (full) and electric comfortable bed, I had actually wondered why I had been so nervous. The nurse I dealt with mainly was also called Veronika – she was so kind and friendly and spoke good English, she was very attentive to any of my needs. During this whole process of flying out to Czech and we had to isolate 5 days because of Czech rule Laura was in contact constantly, liaising with the clinic and me before I arrived.

I spent most of the 1st day at the clinic having tests, they were so thorough I was tested for everything and anything that could cause a complication, Laura kept in contact twice a day and Veronika the manager kept me informed. I really couldn’t of asked for it to have gone smoother on op day the following day . The nurse came for me early , I was in the operating theatre talking to Dr Divis my surgeon by 7am. He was an extremely nice man, very chatty with excellent English . Al theatre staff made me feel so relaxed as obviously I was a tad nervous , next thing I knew I woke up in intensive care ( which is explained they keep you there 1 night)  They are so efficient with pain control , as soon as you ask it’s done no waiting at all. My surgeon came saw me in the afternoon to see how I was doing, such a nice caring man with excellent bedside manner, very grateful. Had a little problem with the gas pains but he sorted that and I felt better within a few hours.

Laura not only stayed in touch with me but kept my husband updated back in the uk and he knew he could call her at any point if he needed to also.

Following the return back to my room I was continually supported by the nurses , especially both Veronika’s , explaining all I need to know for discharge and what to do , I felt pretty good and returned back to the uk with no problem on the Friday. All transport to and from airports and hotels is supplied with a nice chap called David running you around in a lovely Range Rover .

I’ve been home a week now and have contact with Laura most days , she answers any questions about anything ( I’ve always loads of questions) she checks that I’m feeling ok and managing to follow the plan, she has great knowledge about the procedures.

I just want to say a massive thank you to Laura @Ivy health , you have helped me so much throughout this journey I couldn’t of asked for more , your support has been amazing from start to finish !  Finally feel I’m getting to grip with controlling my weight.

I would always recommend Laura @Ivy health and the Surgal clinic in Brno Czech Republic.

Once again so grateful Laura, thank you. Amanda
