About the Clinic

The SurGal Clinic is a well-established, award-winning private surgical clinic located in the centre of the picturesque city of Brno (pronounced “Burno”) – the second largest city in the Czech Republic – and often referred to as “Little Vienna” and the “hidden heart of Europe”.

In addition to the high level of service and care, the clinic itself feels more like a luxury hotel with a modern reception, plush recovery rooms and relaxing rehabilitation swimming pool.

It has also won many awards including:

Voted clinic of the year for 2015 and 2016, it was also opened by the Prime Minister of the Czech Republic!

The clinic offers an exceptional level of care and service, and maintains a high calibre of experienced medical and nursing staff and utilises industry-leading technology.

All the surgeons and wider medical team speak an excellent standard of English.

A luxury car will be arranged for your transfers to and from the airport/hotel and clinic where the medical team will be expecting you.

The clinic is highly professional and thorough.

I felt at ease and we’ll looked after. I’m so happy with the results of my procedure and would recommend Ivy Health to anyone looking into cosmetic or weight loss surgery.

State of the art technology, zero infection rate

In our opinion, surgery in the Czech Republic is more advanced than the UK. Its theatres all have a special air filtration system that filters the open air, preventing infections. These theatres are state of the art and cost millions to install.

Privacy assured

As you would expect, your room at the clinic is completely private. You have your own bathroom, a safe for your valuables and devices, a 50-inch screen is on the wall which you can use for the news channels, to watch DVDs or to Skype your family members at home to tell them how you are doing and so they are reassured you are OK.

Length of stay

You’ll need to stay in Brno for at least 4- 5 days to ensure you are fit to travel back. It’s quite rare for anyone to have to stay beyond this period, but we will be there to support you if you are advised to stay for longer.

We think it’s a good idea to arrive the day before your procedure, if you can, because this will help you settle in, relieve any stress, and allow you to enjoy the picturesque city.

We advise you travel out the day before your procedure so there is no stress involved and you can choose a time you wish to depart. Our transfer service is 24/7 so we like to think we fit in with you and not the other way around.

Dietary considerations

We have a top restaurant in Brno called the Borgo Agnese that provides you with fine dining.  You get to choose daily what you and your guest would like to eat. This doesn’t apply if you are having weight loss surgery because your meals are specially prepared for you.

On the day pre-ops included in the price

On the day of your surgery, you will have a full range of pre-ops that are included in the price. You get to have a full consultation with your surgeon to discuss what will happen through your procedure and afterwards.

In the UK, these pre-ops could mount up to thousands of pounds for example: ECG, Gastroscopy, X-Rays, Bloods, Urine, Psychologist evaluation, Anaesthetist, Internist Report all these are done to make sure you are fully fit for surgery.

Support from your UK health practitioners

We will be there for you every step of the way, but we would always advise you to get your GP and or practice nurse on board, and also a dietitian for weight loss procedures because they will be able to provide additional support relating to their specialism.

You will be given all the post-op requirements and medication that are needed when you are discharged from the clinic and we are always here to advise you through recovery.

Your discharge notes will also be written in English, so everything will be clear and understandable. If you do have any questions, we will help you find the answers.

The clinic is pristine clean and the staff follow an extremely high regimental hygiene process, Laura was on hand to call at any time of the day to assist where necessary. I would have no hesitation in recommending the SurGal Clinic and it’s staff.

Paying your deposit and paying the balance to the clinic

We are different from many other companies because we do not ask for full payment before you go. You’ll then pay the balance directly to the clinic on the day of admission and you pay in Sterling too. You can use a debit or credit card to settle the balance without any card charges.

We work like this because we appreciate you would like to make sure that you are only paying for what you have been informed about and that there are no surprises or hidden charges.

We will provide you with a detailed breakdown of all the fees associated with your surgery (excluding the flights of course, which you would arrange yourself), before you make a final decision.

Getting to know the clinic better

We have a lovely photo gallery to share with you of the clinic, so you can begin to familiarise yourself with it. We also offer you the opportunity to speak to a previous client for reassurance if you wish.

Book a visit

You are very welcome to book a visit to the clinic, to see its facilities and meet the surgeon for an initial consultation before making a final decision. The fee for the consultation (£60) would then be deducted off your final balance if you decide to book surgery at a later date. (The cost of flights and accommodation are not included in this consultation fee.)

Travel and flight time

When considering weight loss or cosmetic surgery abroad, one very important thing you should always consider is how long it will take you to travel to the clinic and in particular, the flight time. The summer edition of the airport magazine has even featured the SurGal Clinic on page 34.

  • We would never recommend, for example, a long-haul flight after having surgery.

Thankfully, Brno is only 1 hour and 40 minutes away from either Stansted or Luton Airport.

Brno airport is very modern looking and about 7.5 km outside the city and fairly small, so it doesn’t take long to fly there, clear passport control, collect your luggage or for the luxury car to pick you up and take you into the city and check in to a hotel or the clinic.

The two main airlines we recommend for direct flights to Brno are Ryanair and Wizz Air. You can also visit the Brno Airport website which has more detailed information about departures, arrivals, check-in and airlines.

You can of course fly into beautiful Prague instead if you wish, and perhaps stay there for a day or two before travelling on to Brno for your surgery, just remember to factor in the travel time from Prague to Brno (about two and a half hours by car or three by coach).

Please do contact us if you have any questions about travelling to Brno or the Czech Republic because we visit at least four times a year so know it very well!
