Weight Loss Surgery FAQs

Weight loss surgery is a procedure that makes the stomach smaller and helps prevent you from over eating.

Weight loss helps you to live a longer healthier life. Also, if you suffer with pain in your knees or back due to being overweight surgery can relieve that.

Any surgery can come with risks but all our weight loss surgeries are done under keyhole (only involves small incisions) which makes it much less evasive, and the recovery time much quicker.

None of our surgeries will result in a large scar being left behind. Our surgeries use a keyhole technique, which means all that will remain after the surgery is 5 small incision marks which will fade in time.

All three surgeries are equally as successful in their respective ways. For more information on the benefits of our surgeries, visit our weight loss surgery page.

This will depend on your BMI level (body mass index), and this is something which we will find out from the medical questionnaire which we ask all of our clients to complete. The surgeon will decide from the questionnaire which procedure will benefit you.

The NHS offer weight loss surgery but there are often long waiting lists and your BMI has to be very high for you to qualify. With private surgery, you don’t have to wait until your health is at a greater risk.

Cosmetic Surgery FAQs

Cosmetic surgery is a surgery that is provided to make improvements or enhancements to your face or body.

We offer a wide range of procedures which cover a variety of different areas. Our procedures include; face lifts, eye lids upper and lower, nose reshaping, liposuction, tummy tucks, skin reduction, as well as breast enlargement and breast uplift procedures.

People can suffer from low self-esteem due to parts of their body or face they are not happy with. And our surgeries can boost people’s confidence with this.

By filling out one of our medical questionnaires, and forward photos of the areas you are concerned about, we will seek some free expert advice from our surgeons who will suggest what procedure they think will most benefit you the most.

Absolutely! Our procedures will give you amazing results which you might not have thought would be possible to achieve at an affordable price. If you’d like to hear about some of the amazing transformations our procedures have made possible, have a read of our blog page.

All surgeries come with a risk, but having a procedure done at a 5* clinic with a top surgeon who takes the time to go through your medical history, followed by a face to face consultation where they will listen to what you want to achieve is very important, and it undoubtedly helps reduce the initial risks of surgery massively. Also, our surgeons will only perform your procedure if you are fit and healthy, have passed all the pre-ops, and they can achieve the result which you are looking for.

Yes, however whatever scars remain after the surgery will fade over time.

There are some surgeries available on the NHS, but you will have long waiting lists and there will always have to be good reason for a UK surgeon to agree to this. For example, if you were suffering from depression or very low self-esteem.

FAQs Applicable to Both

The first contact you make with us, by phone or by email, we will discuss with you what procedure you are interested in and whether travelling abroad is achievable for you. If you are happy with everything that has been discussed, we will ask you to fill in a medical questionnaire which we will forward on to one of our expert surgeons on your behalf to see if they will consider you for surgery. If you are accepted, we will will make all the arrangements for you and be your point of call all the way through.

We always advise you to get your GP, Nurse or Dietitian on board for extra support on your return. Ivy Health will continue to support you forever how long you wish post-surgery.

Prices can vary depending on a variety of different personal circumstances, and it is because of this that we ask those interested in our procedures to contact us directly to find out costings. However, we do however like to make it clear that the only additional costs other than the cost of the procedure will be for flights, and accommodation post-surgery if required.

You only pay a £500 non-refundable deposit to us when your surgery has been confirmed, and the balance you can pay directly to the clinic on arrival. All payments are made in pounds.

You will have a vast range of pre-ops, as well as a consultation with your surgeon, which will be followed by the actual surgery. The surgery will always take place on the same day as your consultation.

General anaesthetic is the anaesthetic which is used on all of our procedures.

For most weight loss and cosmetic procedures, you will be there for 4 days. You will be required to arrive the day before surgery and then stay 2/3 nights extra before being able to fly back. This will be discussed with you.

A very high standard. You have the full support from us at Ivy Health for as long as you need, and we will contact your surgeon if you would like any advice from him or have any questions during your recovery in the UK.

All the surgeons speak very good English, along with the fantastic nursing staff they all have excellent communication skills.

We can provide you with all the information regarding your surgeon, and they are all part of the Czech Medical Society. To find out more about our fantastic team of surgeons, visit the about the surgeons page.

The only reason is because the cost of living is a lot cheaper in the Czech Republic compared to the UK, and this means that the surgeons do not get paid as much as UK surgeons, which results in a more affordable price. The actual level of care is far higher in the Czech Republic compared to the UK, and the same can be said for how advanced they are in medical terms ahead of the UK as well.
