Popular questions clients have about breast enlargement

What is breast enlargement?

Breast augmentation, or augmentation mammoplasty, or is a surgical procedure that aims to increase the size, shape, or fullness of the breast. The surgeon places silicone breast implants under the chest muscles or breast tissue. Implants last up to 15 years.

What shapes of breast implant are available?

There are two shapes of implants to choose from: the round shape and the more natural teardrop shape. You will have a full consultation with your surgeon to decide which shape you would like and which size is achievable for your frame.

You will be able to feel the implant and place them in a bra to see how they will look. When you have had your surgery, you will be given a support bra to wear 6-8 weeks post-surgery and your stitches will be dissolvable. Is the size of breast implant important?

The size you choose is important because they need to fit your frame and this will be discussed with you at your consultation with your surgeon. You will be able to feel the implants and he will be able to advise you on size. Normally going up two sizes is achievable to start with. Sometimes larger breasts need to be achieved in stages once the skin has grown in order to allow a larger implant to be put in place.

Breast enlargement or uplift?

Breast enlargement is where you choose to have an implant which increases the size of your breast(s). This is different from breast uplift surgery, which is an operation to lift your breast gland and re-shape your breasts. This makes them look more youthful and feel firmer. The medical name for breast uplift surgery is mastopexy.
