How does a Gastric Bypass work?

Gastric bypass surgery refers to a procedure in which the stomach is divided into a small upper pouch and a much larger lower pouch. It allows food to bypass a portion of your digestive system, subsequently you absorb fewer calories from food and feel fuller quicker.

How do I qualify for this weight loss surgery?

You will meet with UK surgeon Professor Ameet Patel in his clinic in London for a consultation to see if you qualify. Once Professor Patel accepts you we will arrange your surgery at our partner clinic in the Czech Republic. 
 
You will normally need a BMI of between 35 and 50 for this procedure.

Planning the Gastric Bypass

You will be at the clinic in Brno from Friday to Tuesday. On the day of surgery, you will have an intense range of pre-op tests including: Blood tests, ECG, Urine analysis, and X-Rays. In addition, you will have examinations from an Internist, Psychologist, and Anaesthetist. Finally, you will receive a Gastroscopy under general anaesthetic to check you are ready for the procedure. The clinic takes no chances with your health, and makes sure you are 100% fit and ready for surgery. After that, Professor Patel will personally perform your procedure.
 
You will remain in the clinic for a further three days before you are able to travel back to the UK. Six weeks post-surgery you will receive an invitation back to Professor Patel’s clinic in London for a follow up appointment. We will arrange this.

How much does a gastric bypass cost?
