Jo’s Inspirational Journey

We met on Saturday 29th April 2017, in a journey I never imagined I would make!

Without even meeting in person, this client and I would become close friends. She has to be one of the bravest people I have ever had the joy to meet.

Her journey started in 2016 when she made an enquiry for Gastric Sleeve. Everything ran smoothly, and she was accepted for surgery. On an almost daily basis we would chat over the phone, whether she needed advice or just to be reassured about her procedure.

Nothing seemed to faze this lady. She had struggled with her weight for years, always managing to lose a stone and a half on her own, before the weight loss would stop. She had tried every diet going but was still unable to get any further. That’s when she called me.

Jo had done her research and there was nothing she did not know about the procedure, and what she needed to do post-surgery to make it work. She understood it is not just a quick fix and that you have to work with it. You have to be mentally prepared for this and she was 100%. On the morning of her surgery, she went through all her pre-op assessment.

Everything went smoothly until she had her gastroscopy. The surgeon stopped – unfortunately, there was something the surgeon was not happy with and she was refused. As you can imagine, she was extremely disappointed but if she had not gone through the pre-ops she would never have known. Fortunately, it was something that could be treated.

When she returned to the UK, her surgery was put on hold until she was ready to return. Jo returned to the Clinic in January 2017. Everything went smoothly and her procedure took place. I kept in touch with her the whole time and her journey began.

This lady, through her dedication and willpower, lost 5 stone in a very short period of time by following the post-op instructions, exercising and being totally mentally prepared. Jo says to me, I made her who she is today, but the truth is that she did it herself. I was just there to support her.

We met for the first time and I couldn’t believe how amazing she looked. It was a special day for both of us and I am very proud to be part of her journey.

Below, Jo describes her personal journey from her meeting with me and her experience of the clinic.

My consultation with Laura

I had been researching a gastric sleeve for 2 years before actually having my surgery. I had spoken to numerous companies prior to speaking with Laura. Laura was friendly and provided me with direct answers and not the hard sell like most other companies. Laura took the time to listen to the issues I raised and the concerns that I had.

Laura took a genuine interest into my situation and provided me with a personal professional service. She also made all the arrangements for my husband to accompany me during my trip.

Laura kept in touch every day during my stay which made me feel more like a friend than just a customer. 6 month’s on not only has my surgery been a success but I’ve gained a new friend in Laura.

Laura’s experience and knowledge in her field has given me the strength to get to where I am now. It’s not all been plain sailing as nothing ever is, there have been some really tough days but her support is both professional and personal and I believe I would not have been able to succeed without the personal level of support that she has provided to me.

The SurGal Clinic

The SurGal Clinic is more like a 5* hotel than a hospital. I’ve received treatment privately in the UK but it is still miles behind the facilities available at the SurGal Clinic.

The clinic is pristine clean and the staff follow an extremely high regimental hygiene process, Laura was on hand to call at any time of the day to assist where necessary. I would have no hesitation in recommending the SurGal Clinic and it’s staff.

You will certainly feel well looked after, cared for and a valued patient.

Jo, you are an inspiration to us all!
